What’s all this talk about a ‘professional’ pet sitter? Come on now…  “anyone” can be a pet sitter, right? What Kinds Of Pets Do We Pet Sit For?

Of course the most common pets we sit for are dogs and cats. But people have lots of different kinds of pets, not just cats and dogs.  We’ve also had the pleasure of watching many kinds of birds. Meet Duncan: So what are some other more unusual pets we’ve sat for? Well, your Gilbert pet […]

Kathy Garner Mesa Pet Sitter

Meet Kathy Garner, member of the Critter Caretakers pet sitters team:
“I have always had animals of some kind my life. I grew up with a black Cocker Spaniel and a turtle named Junior. Stray dogs used to “find” me even when I was a little girl. My family had dogs for a long time, but when I was in the 6th grade, I was given a newborn kitten whose mother had gotten run over by a car. “Lucky” lived with me for 16 years. After that, I cared for and loved cats, dogs, birds and fish — sometimes separately, sometimes all at the same time. I started pet sitting for others when I was 10 and really haven’t stopped since! I absolutely love all animals and taking care of them – It’s my passion. I have volunteered with the AZ Humane Society, mostly working with cats and I am currently the proud mom of 2 rescue cats who found me after they were abandoned. I have been with Critter Caretakers since 2017 and work as a pet sitter full time”.

Sam McPike Apache Junction Pet Sitter

Meet Sam McPike, one of our pet sitting team members:
“I am an Arizona native. I retired from state government in 2015 to do what I love which includes spending time with family, camping, hiking and being outdoors. My family currently consists of six children (four with fur), four grandchildren (one with fur) and husband John. Since retirement I have discovered I would rather spend her time in the company of animals; “Animals possess all the qualities you wish people exhibited. They are generally trusting and friendly and are always happy to see you”. I have volunteered my time since retiring with Apache Junction Paws & Claws and Arizona Cattle Dog Rescue. Cattle dogs have been in my home since I can remember and current there are two, Finnigan and Jax-a-Roonie. No stranger to cats I recall having five living in my home at one time, now down to two, Lincoln and Veruca. I currently resides on the border of East Mesa and Apache Junction.”
Sam is a pet sitter in Mesa, Gilbert and Apache Junction. Meet more of the Critter Caretakers pet sitters by clicking the button below.

What Makes A Good Critter Caretakers Client?

A new dog sitting client in Mesa recently asked me if we take on all clients that we consult with and I replied no. We don’t pet sit for animals that are aggressive to people or other animals. It’s a safety issue for the sitters and other animals. We are not breed discriminatory and base […]

Why It’s Not Such a Good Idea To Use Friends or Family Members for Pet Sitting

When you go on vacation, you have to leave the pets with someone, right? Whether it’s at a boarding kennel, using a dog sitter in Mesa, or asking a friend, family member or neighbor’s son/daughter, someone has to, uh, let the dogs out, so to speak. However, we’d like to share some interesting stories of […]

A Day in the Life of a Pet Sitter in Tempe

A typical day in the life of your Tempe pet sitter can vary widely.  Some sitters have regular clients 5 days a week, such as dog-walking while mom and dad are at work Monday through Friday, or puppy visits for potty breaks and a walk 3 times a week.  So in that case, it’s wake up, roll out of bed, […]

When Is A Gilbert Pet Sitter NOT A Pet Sitter?

We wear lots of different hats when we work as pet sitters in Gilbert: poop scooper, hairball cleaner-upper, dog walker, head kisser, and cuddle giver. But occasionally we get to step out of those roles and fill another. Animal rescue networker!!!! I have two great stories to share. The first involves one of our clients […]
