Winner of Best of Mesa Best Pet Services 2017 as voted for by the people of Mesa, we are proud to have won this award 4 years in a row. No other Mesa pet sitters have this level of recognition from their own community members. “When Only The Best Is Good Enough!”
Did you know that cats have been domesticated pets since 10,000 years ago, and that the ancient Egyptians used to worship a cat god as well as have their pets mummified and buried with them so they can be together in the afterlife? Now THAT’S love. What can we say? Cat owners really adore their […]
What’s all this talk about a ‘professional’ pet sitter? Come on now… “anyone” can be a pet sitter, right? After all pet sitters spend all day long in fields of soft, green grass with rainbows in the background, just playing with puppies and kittens, right? Ummmm, NO. What your professional pet sitter does is makes […]
Did you know that most commercial pet foods sit on a warehouse shelf for 6-18 MONTHS before it even reaches store shelves??!! Really it’s a pity what companies are passing off as nutritious and healthy foods for dogs on the market these days. Dog food needs to have a highly digestible meat protein as one […]
Of course the most common pets we sit for are dogs and cats. But people have lots of different kinds of pets, not just cats and dogs. We’ve also had the pleasure of watching many kinds of birds. Meet Duncan: So what are some other more unusual pets we’ve sat for? Well, your Gilbert pet […]
Meet Kathy Garner, member of the Critter Caretakers pet sitters team:
“I have always had animals of some kind my life. I grew up with a black Cocker Spaniel and a turtle named Junior. Stray dogs used to “find” me even when I was a little girl. My family had dogs for a long time, but when I was in the 6th grade, I was given a newborn kitten whose mother had gotten run over by a car. “Lucky” lived with me for 16 years. After that, I cared for and loved cats, dogs, birds and fish — sometimes separately, sometimes all at the same time. I started pet sitting for others when I was 10 and really haven’t stopped since! I absolutely love all animals and taking care of them – It’s my passion. I have volunteered with the AZ Humane Society, mostly working with cats and I am currently the proud mom of 2 rescue cats who found me after they were abandoned. I have been with Critter Caretakers since 2017 and work as a pet sitter full time”.

Well it’s getting to be that time again. We’re just barely in to the month of May and triple digits are already on those of us here in Arizona. As dog walkers in Mesa and Gilbert, we need to pay attention to those temperatures. Did you know that unlike other states, not all weather is […]
Ok we admit it, pet sitting isn’t rocket science. It’s about a love for animals, attention to detail, plus the ability to take cute pictures and communicate well with clients – the office doesn’t hurt either. 🙂 However, it isn’t always “a walk in the park” so to speak! There are a few things you can do […]
Meet Sam McPike, one of our pet sitting team members:
“I am an Arizona native. I retired from state government in 2015 to do what I love which includes spending time with family, camping, hiking and being outdoors. My family currently consists of six children (four with fur), four grandchildren (one with fur) and husband John. Since retirement I have discovered I would rather spend her time in the company of animals; “Animals possess all the qualities you wish people exhibited. They are generally trusting and friendly and are always happy to see you”. I have volunteered my time since retiring with Apache Junction Paws & Claws and Arizona Cattle Dog Rescue. Cattle dogs have been in my home since I can remember and current there are two, Finnigan and Jax-a-Roonie. No stranger to cats I recall having five living in my home at one time, now down to two, Lincoln and Veruca. I currently resides on the border of East Mesa and Apache Junction.”

A new dog sitting client in Mesa recently asked me if we take on all clients that we consult with and I replied no. We don’t pet sit for animals that are aggressive to people or other animals. It’s a safety issue for the sitters and other animals. We are not breed discriminatory and base […]
